Aerospace and Rail

Aerospace & Rail

Aircraft & Rail interior designers continuously strive to build safety, aesthetics, ease of maintenance, and branding into their creations. New looks and features must dovetail with tough mechanical requirements and compliance to regulations.  Mulford Plastics currently have portfolio of products for the this market and over the next 2 years will be our product offering into these markets. Rail  & aircraft equipment must shrug off whatever the environment and people can do to them. New safety requirements, new demands for aesthetics, and new needs for innovative materials

 Products for Aerospace & Rail

Lexan* Polycarbonate - a virtually unbreakable plastic  with Margard* abrasion resistant coatings, offer water-clear transparency, light weight, a broad range of tinting, decorative, and forming options or glass laminated sheet options answers a broad range of  needs. For high optical quality applications, extruded Lexan* Margard sheet has one of the tightest measurable specification with regard to black specs, inclusions, bubbles, lints & fibers, distortion and ripple.  Flame retardancy, scratch resistance and chemical resistance can also be part of the formulation which makes perfect option for rail and aircraft window, seating, walls and lighting.

Ultem Sheet  has excellent  flame, smoke and toxicity compliance, exceptional strength and modulus at elevated temperatures, broad chemical resistance and stiffness, light weight, Ultem* sheet is an excellent candidate for growing range of demanding applications by leading airline and rail OEMs. This high performance engineering material provides cutting edge performance and satisfies both safety issues and environmental concerns and meets stringent industry requirements, including TCO99, Blue Angel, White Swan or EU.

Kydex  for Aerospace proprietary thermoplastic sheet for aircraft interior components is available in a range of high performance grades that satisfies FAA fire retardancy requirements, and exhibits outstanding physical, mechanical, and thermal properties. It is also readily thermoformed, fabricated, and machined, making it the ideal material from which to create a broad variety of two- and three-dimensional aircraft components including Air ducts; Armrests; Bulkhead laminates; Escape slide pack boards; Galley parts; Instrument panels; Lavatory floor pans; Life vest shrouds; Lighting housings; Molding strips; Passenger service units; Side wall panels; Toilet shrouds; Tray tables  and Window reveals

KYDEX® for Rail & Mass Transport sheet is available in specialized grades that meet all performance criteria for flammability and smoke emission as tested under: ASTM E-662 and ASTM E-162 as described in both the "Recommended Fire Safety Practices for Rail Transit Materials Selection" issued by the Urban Mass Transportation Administration, and the Docket 90-A Federal Transit Administration's "Recommended Fire Safety Practices for Transit Bus and Van Materials Selection". It exhibits a broad range of outstanding physical, mechanical, and thermal properties, making it the ideal material from which to form a wide variety of two- and three-dimensional interior components for Subway cars; Buses; Railroad passenger cars; Dining coaches; Monorails; Locomotive cabins; Dashboards; Seatbacks; Storage compartments; Ceiling panels; Side wall panels; Enclosures of all types; Tray tables; Partitions and HVAC ducting
